Color Palette Inspiration

We found a neat web site that highlights and forecasts color palette trends. You can search boards by color or theme and see color groupings that work well together. The site is Design Seeds. Here are two examples of their color palette images.

Rental Highlight: Lighted Glass Block Cake Stands

Elite Events Rental offers stunning lighted glass block cake stands. Each stand has either a 24" square mirror or a 22" round mirror top and rents for $40. These stands look amazing in photos.

The round stand is new for 2012 and we don't have many photos yet.

Planning Tip: Choose Multiple Centerpiece Heights

Most brides will pick two or three centerpieces for their wedding reception. This can both add interest to the design and save money. If you fall in love with a bigger, expensive centerpiece balance it by choosing to use a smaller, simpler centerpiece as well. You get the big 'WOW' moment when everyone walks in but are able to stay on budget. The bigger centerpiece doesn't have to be half or even a third of the tables. A small number can make a big impact if you weight them towards the center of the room where everyone can enjoy them.

A variety of heights also helps fill the height of a large room and makes the eye travel further in a small room making it seem larger.

This black and sage wedding designed by Lincoln wedding consultant Ann Thompson, features three different height centerpieces. The feathers of the tallest centerpiece help fill the tall ceilings at Courtside Banquet Hall. The smallest floral centerpiece helps break the eye as it travels it around the room.

The bride at this fuchsia Cornhusker Marriott wedding reception, choose to have two very tall centerpieces only on the head table. On the rest of the tables she used either a grouping of very small vases or a simple single submerged stem in cylinder vase.

This black and silver Grand Manse wedding reception had 45 tables and 4 different centerpieces. They used two short bouquets, a medium lamp shade, and a tall candelabra.

Planning Tip: Limit the Guest List

When deciding on a reception venue, get your guest list organized.  Knowing the number of guests you expect or wish to have can severely limit or expand your options.  Websites like http://www.neweddingday.com/ give comprehensive lists of reception halls throughout Nebraska. The profiles tell you how many people the room can accommodate, if there’s a ceremony site as well, catering limits, and room rental fees. Having a reception with over 350 people will limit your choices greatly, whereas a wedding of only 100 will leave almost anything open to you.

Limit your guest list. Cutting out 50 people can easily lower your bill by $1000 when you factor in the cost of food, alcohol, table linens, centerpieces and invitations.  Is it so important that your mom’s best friend’s sister who you have never met make it to your wedding? Probably not. Without stepping on any one’s toes, especially if they’re helping pay the bills, try to limit your guest list to people you really want there on your day.

Experts say 60% of invited guests will come to the wedding. We generally advise brides to plan for seating for 70% of the their guest list.

Elite Events Rental is excited to offer new LED uplights. A set of 5 LED uplights rents for $200. A set of 10 LED uplights rents for $300. We do give a $50 discount if you are also renting the fabric backdrop.

Use lights to throw color on the walls of the reception or to highlight the head table, cake table or dance floor. Use lights to accent columns or walls between windows at your reception venue.

Lights look best spaced every 4-15 feet.

We will provide you with written instructions for setup and extension cords.
Lights can be chained together if outlets are limited.

ALL COLORS AVAILABLE: Lights can be programed for your custom color. Darker/brighter colors work best.

Teal and Purple Table Display

Elite Events Rental had this teal and purple wedding on display at the bridal fair at Aunt Mary's Center in Beatrice this past weekend. Blooms and Bouquets provided us with an awesome centerpiece arrangement in our 20x6x6 rectangle vase ($10 rental).

We were able to showcase our new black and white damask table runners ($4 rental). We placed two teal organza chair ties ($1.50 rental) under the runner to create a colored border.

We also setup our new LED Uplights in a custom teal color to match the flowers.

Trend Highlight: Ceremony at Reception Venue

A big wedding trend we are seeing right now is brides choosing to have the reception and ceremony at the same location.  A lot of reception venues have a ceremony option at no additional cost. Some venues may charge a ceremony fee but often offer a discount if you book both a ceremony and reception with them.
It is often easier for both the bridal party and the wedding guests to have everything in one stop. Guests from out of town don't have to battle with two sets of directions. If the wedding is at a downtown location, guests will find it easier to park before the dinner crowd arrives and parking spots become more limited and further away. The bridal party won't have to worry about moving personal items from one location to the next.
Venues with a special outdoor ceremony spot are very popular. Look at golf courses, country clubs and vineyards. But we are also seeing many brides having their ceremony in the same room as the reception, to one side of the room or on the dance floor. Some venue have separate rooms available to rent for the ceremony.
Here are just some of the locations in Lincoln, Nebraska that make it easy for the ceremony and reception to be held in the same place:

Bluestem Vineyard - Outdoor Wedding Pavilion
Wilderness Ridge - Outdoor Wedding Island
Hidden Valley - Outdoor Ceremony Location
Apothecary Lofts/ Ridnour Room - Ceremony in the Same Room or in Second Loft
The Great Hall at Lincoln Station - Ceremony on the Dance Floor
Windsor Stables - Ceremony in the Ballroom
Embassy Suites - Additional rooms available
Holiday Inn Downtown - Additional rooms available
Chez Hay - Ceremony on the Dance Floor
Grand Manse - Ceremony in the Grand Hall
County Inn and Suites - Additional rooms available
Rococo Theater - Ceremony on the Stage
The Del Ray Ballroom - Ceremony in the Ballroom

Planning Tip: Prioritize the Budget

Prioritize! If you and your fiancée both think that the photographs are the most important part of the wedding, then hire the photographer you want with little consideration of the budget.  Spending the extra money on photographs will mean more to the both of you than spending that extra money on something one, or both of you, could care less about.

Compromise is the best way to stretch a budget, get what you care the most about first and then make choices to limit the amount you can spend on everything else. Sit down with your fiancée and talk about what is most and least important to each of you.
